Aaron – Jan 09 – After talking to the kids about animals I ask them what kind of animal we are. Aaron’s very confident answer “I’m a cammal…I mean a mammal”
Aaron- 8/4/9 – “When I was born, was I small like a germ?”
Zara – From Feb 09 – “I’m the Princes Daughter and you’re the Queen Mommy”
Aaron – 8/4/9 – While watching me put my makeup on…”You put makeup on my eyes quickly and then I’ll run and wash it off before Dad sees”
Christian – 30/3/9 – Chris say’s to Landi “Why are you wearing that top, you already wore it this week?”
Aaron – 27/4/9 – “Mommy….I love your voice”
27/4/9 - Mommy “If you drive at 150km/h for 150km, how long would it take you to get there? Christian “Forever!”
Zara – 26/4/9 – “It’s ruined!” (after having her fork moved out of place)
Aaron 7/5/9 – “Do you know what barefoot means? It’s when you take off your shoes and walk like a bear.”
June 2009 – Chris has just grasped the fact that x + 0 = x and Aaron pipes up, “I’ve seen a shop called Zero, it has nothing in it!”
July 2009 – Driving in the car on the way to the circus Christian asks me if our car is a two wheel drive. We discuss this and decide it’s the back wheels are the ones that turn on the motor. Aaron pipes up, “When I walk, I’m a two wheel drive.”
August 2009 – Paris – Looking down from the Eiffel Tower Aaron says: ‘The people look like ants and the ants look like germs.’
September 2009 – Aaron : Mommy, please can I watch a movie?
Me: Which movie would you like to watch?’
Aaron: The Possums
Me: We don’t have a movie called the Possums.
Aaron: Yes, you know, the one where the men talk about Jesus.
Me (laughing silently in my head): You mean the Apostles?
Sep 09 – Driving in the car from CT to PE Aaron tells me his dream: I was a Prince, without a Kingdom. I had a horse and you were my Princess.
Sep 09 – Chris asks Granny: Granny, are you Ally’s mom? Granny answers: Yes, I am. I ask Chris why he asked. Chris answers: Because Granny is so old and Ally is just a kid.
October 09 – Christian asks (while he’s meant to be doing his maths) “Can we go to Russia to get some milk? Like the people who traveled from Europe to India to find spices” Well, why not, I suppose!
Nov 09 – Zara says something about her bothers and sister while we’re driving in the car on the way to watch the boys’ drama play. I say to her that she only has brothers and no sisters. She replies, “I had a sister and the witch turned her into a tree.”
17 Nov 09 – Aaron: “God is the boss of the world and can carefully balance a peanut on his head”
Dec 09 – Aaron has a bad case of itchy bites, which I start thinking look like chicken pox. I say to him that we should keep an eye on the spots just in case. He takes a big sigh and says, “but I wasn’t even around any chickens!”
24th Dec 2009 – Joshua ask Michael (as he does every day) ‘How many sleeps until Christmas?’ Michael replies ‘Only one more sleep!’ Joshua turns around obviously annoyed and says ‘Why do you keep changing it!!’
Zara – 2nd Jan 1010 – Mommy, look at the flowers, they’re wonderful!
15/1/10 While we are driving to Paternoster for the weekend and the space in the car is extra tight with Violet joining us, Aaron says to Zara, ‘Get to your side of the planet!’
21/1/10 – Zara’s first ballet class today and it was just toooo special. Most precious moment was when she turns around in the class and say, ‘mommy! i so love you you bring me to ballet, i love ballet!’
Jan 10 – Driving in the car Aaron says, ‘Mommy! I just saw a bird disguised as a feather!’
Jan 10 – Aaron’s grace before dinner – ‘Thank you Lord for the lovely day and glorious evening.’
Feb 10 – Zara is convinced her name starts with an ‘O’.
March 10 – Aaron says after meeting orphan kids ‘You mean they have No parents, like, they can just play ALLLL day?’
March 10 – Zara: ‘Mommy, I can’t sleep here on the mattress next to you, because the spiders will come and eat me for lunch!’
March 10 – After I bought a nice warm pink blanket for her room, ‘Now this blanket has a family.’
March 10 – After taking a wrong turn on the way to Sport, Aaron say: ‘I know the word for this, it’s ‘Damit!”
March 10 – Aaron was asking his Ouma to make him a new dress up suit, but she said she was not making suits anymore. So Aaron asks, ‘Then why do you have a suit making machine!?’ (that being a sewing machine)
March 10 – Zara’s new catch phrase : Magic Magic Make Mommy a Princess!
April 10 – Zara has once again taken the scissors to her hair. I was so cross and said to her, ‘I’ll have to cut your hair into a bob!’ She cries, ‘Don’t cut my hair like Bob!’
April 10 – Zara was teasing the boys in the car saying ‘Christian and Aaron are married’. Aaron says, ‘No, boys marry girls and girls marry boys.’ So I take the opportunity and say, ‘You’re right, that is God’s perfect plan, but sometimes boys like to be with boys and girls like to be with girls.’ SILENCE….Christian, ‘Yes, in Iceland’.
Every single morning Aaron will stand at his cupboard and say, ‘Mommy, is it going to be warm or cold or hot today?’
Christian – Sept 2010 – Mom, our family really has a great tesimony, don’t we!
Zara – In Zara language ‘What’s your old?’ means ‘How old are you?’
Mia – Mama Mia…..Mama You
Mia – 6 Nov 10 – I hear Mia in the next room so I call to call and she responds, ‘No, I’m not here.’
Zara – 15/11/10 – Mom, let’s play and game and you be the mom.
Zara – “Zara, please pick up your stuff!” Zara, “Princesses do NOT work they just play and dance!”
Aaron – Mommy, “What is a vow?” Aaron, “A E I O or U”
Zara – June 2011 – ‘Water is for washing hands, washing faces and washing dress. It is NOT for drinking!’
Zara – Seeing my profile picture on Facebook she says, ‘Mommy you look fablulus!’
so delightful! always nice to go back and remember these moments!
Yeah, and this is a really easy way to keep note!
Oh, this is too precious! I think I will nick this idea. I try to make mental notes or relate these gems to whoever as a means to imprint it, I even occasionally scribble it down in various places, but this is so much more practical for my sieve-brain.
